My second part of letting you know how to become a plus size model is about the portfolio, the most important accessory for a model. The one thing you should have with you all the time and going for castings or similar. Remember your portfolio should always be updated and it's a good idea to have it online as well on a agency's site or your own site or Facebook page.
Portfolio
You should definitely have some photos before contacting an agency, make sure to have some different ones. First of all you should have some very simple, plain and natural photos of you - like face, half body and full figure with no or less make up and simple clothing that shows your body and features.
The photos should be from both the front and sideways.
If you have long hair, you should have photos with your hair up and loose, to show the length of your hair as well as your all your face features.
Sometimes it's difficult to get started, as you need to contact a photographer and properly also a makeup artist. For a plus size model it can be even harder as most better photographers (this is sorely my opinion based on my experience) only works with thin or skinny models and if they are good, they properly don't do a lot of TFP jobs, unless you really are a beauty! So it's a good idea to friend photographers on Facebook and add yourself to different networking groups on Facebook like: Holm PR and Fotograf/ Model & Mua/ Stylist chatgruppe.
You would properly ask for Time For Print (tfp) shoots, which means that all work for free to get the images for their portfolio You shouldn't pay unless you really want some images and you have found a great photographer or Makeup artist. But be aware, there are a lot of bad people in the business!
