Wednesday Kopenhagen Fur and the two stores Trois Pommes and Kløve & Lønberg invited fashionistas to a fur event at Signatur Spisehus. I went there to see what they have designed and hoped to see something refreshing and new. I went together with Louise Rose from Venindeliv who has a thing for fur.
Uffe Buchard from GrenaaBuchard presented the cooperation between Trois Pommes and Kløve & Lønberg and the four stylist who had styled each a model with the fur jackets. The stylists were Pernille Teisbæk, Thora Valdemardottir from Costume, Gertrud Bønnelykke from Eurowoman, Chris Pedersen from Cover. The collection of the fur jackets were a limited edition of 11 and the prices were from 16.999 til 29.999 DKK and all jackets were in mink.
I didn't find the furs that interesting or innovative, even the styling didn't impress me, only Chris Pedersen seem to give his look something cool by applying the look with a leather jacket underneath the fur jacket with 3/4 sleeves. Though it was nice to see that they had tried to use more simple and everyday clothes for their styling's as one wouldn't afford both an expensive fur jacket and clothing.
No one really talked about the different issues of fur/mink production and maybe it would have been wrong as the event was a marketing event for the collection. Some, at least one of them even talked about fur still being a luxurious and popular must have product. I tend to disagree as I see a growing concern of fur production and animal welfare in the youth today. More seem to feel that we don't need fur as we once did and why should we only breed these animals to kill them for their fur. I tend to agree.
Note that I think fur is very beautiful, but I would always consider which animal I would wear, how the production has been, the welfare of the animals. And I must admit I seldom find a fur product that is in my style, I still think it is a bit boring. I only think the young fashion and design students can design something I would like to wear but I guess I would never spent that many money on a fur coat?!

A very cool and relaxed styling, but I really don't like the fur jacket, it still looks boring and old.
