Barbara Í Gongini is one of my favourite Danish (sorry she is from the Faroe Islands) designers. Her mostly dark, super deconstructed universe totally speaks to me. I love the way each item is a piece of art, either you find your own way to wear it or you need help from the sales personal or her team to help you wrap it around your body.
Most of the items could be unisex, though she does distinguish a little, but I my eyes its mostly size wise, because the menswear it as amazing as the womenswear and as a woman you would love to wear them as well and that goes the other way around too.
The last couple of seasons she has made these amazing headpieces often of either leather or tulle, and they are fabulous! If I wasn't such a chicken and hated the attention I would wear them every occasion I had. Especially the cap with a tulle mohawk, caught my attention, that's just bloody cool! A must have for all BÍG fans!
Some times I have difficulties in differentiating the collection, but it doesn't really matter to me, as every piece is so unique when you take a closer look, the missing collar, the asymmetric or raw hemlines etc. For me it's all about the presentation and her shows are always an art event with fabrics and that's why so many attend her shows.
This show show started off with a presentation of the menswear -a cool entrance and pattern of men on the catwalk, who changed places and walked down the catwalk was a great idea. You really got to see the items, accessories and study it all.
Then the super cool (and almost regular BÍG ) model Maja Mazur entered the catwalk, stopped and did some broken doll like poses, it looked so great. The rest of the show went on from here, with loads of models and cool items. The show stopped a little at one point, as one model came in and stopped, other models came in and dressed her in one item each, I hoped that all models would come in and do it, so that she would have loads of items on her, but they stopped after like 5 items, but cool happening anyway.
Enjoy the images below, you would have wanted to be there!
Model Maja Mazur acting like a broken doll, it looked so great!
Love the styling of this really dark model wearing nothing but white! An Amazon warrior I loved her!
Beautiful Barbara!
The good photos are from Copenhagen Fashion week, the others are my own.
